Day 1

Up early and out on the road this morning. Went through Orange City and had Dutch toast. It was really just French toast. Orange City has a large Dutch population. Spent time talking with a local farmer.

It was awesome we went through Marcus. We had wonderful apple pie at the Methodist Church. The had mad 300 pies the day before. It was an amazing sight. See the photo!

The it got HOT!!! We got to Cherokee and melting. After 4 bottles of water and two gatorades we started to feel human again. We headed out for dinner at the local Lutheran church... LCMS of course. We had a wonderful BBQ pork dinner with pie. Duh! The best part of the meal was the conversation and air conditioning. The congregation opened the sanctuary and it was full of sleeping people. It was truly wonderful to be there.

Now to try and sleep... We want to be on the road by 5 a.m. My wife is a saint!
